Open-source work uses information that is lawfully public: filings, dockets, registries, published data, publicly posted media. It does not include breaking access controls, deceiving people into disclosure, or collecting on private accounts.
Method discipline is part of the evidence. An analysis that cannot describe how it obtained something cannot defend it.
